(WISE 12 Summit) Responsible AI in Education: The evidence we need to build, scale, and trust it
Artificial intelligence is emerging as a powerful tool for education systems to generate and use evidence more effectively, but its application in low- and middle-income countries raises critical questions about readiness, equity, and governance. This roundtable, hosted by the Global Schools Forum with contributions from the Gates Foundation and Brookings, explores how AI and evidence can work together to strengthen learning systems that are effective, inclusive, and trustworthy. Participants will discuss what kinds of evidence AI-driven innovations need to succeed, how AI can support adaptive decision-making, and what safeguards are essential to protect privacy, trust, and equity. Through lightning stories from education innovators and an open, collaborative dialogue, the session will gather insights and commitments to inform a collective Call to Action “AI and Evidence for Learning” for the GSF and WISE communities.
