Improving education for marginalised children—by expanding access, enhancing equity, and strengthening learning outcomes—is at the heart of GSF’s mission.

We achieve this through strategic partnerships with philanthropic institutions and mission-aligned funders whose generous support enables us to design and deliver high-impact programmes.

These programmes support our global community to scale education innovations and build effective equity-driven partnerships in low- and middle-income countries.

GSF is a fantastic organisation. It brings so many people together, with so many different approaches and innovative ideas on how to deliver education at low cost in numerous different contexts. This is why we have decided to support the Impact at Scale labs as the first funder, because we believe there is a wealth of evidence regarding approaches and knowledge, and understanding what works. So we really hope that a lot of knowledge will emerge from this, and that GSF will be able to share this broadly, not only among its constituents but also beyond that.

For the Hilton Foundation, and particularly the ECD (Early Childhood Development) Eastern South African team, our goal is to support children to be developmentally on track, especially those aged zero to three. It's not always easy to find community-based organisations that can support that goal. So, by working with GSF through their labs, we believe we'll be able to identify organisations that can support the work, particularly local organisations. This is because it's our goal to ensure that whatever we do, we support local-based organisations.

The Global Schools Forum, as an organisation, answers many of the questions I think we have as a philanthropic foundation. Across our partner portfolio, we see a request from partners to really strengthen their capacity in some specific areas to scale their impact. We see that flexible funding, which takes us halfway to supporting partners and really defining their strategy for scale, is crucial to them as they seek to have a bigger impact.
