Many systems still treat play as a distraction from “real” learning and the AI boom is now adding a second pressure, displacing social, embodied play with screen-based engagement. Marking the UN’s Protect Play, Protect Childhoodtheme, three speakers from GSF community organisations – Ahona Krishna (Leadership for Equity, India), Philip J Hawkins (Apprender, UK) and Pamela Akinboboye (Nurturing Early Childhood Community Initiative, Nigeria) will share how play is woven into programme design and delivery in low-resource settings and what must be safeguarded (in terms of time, space, quality) for it to scale. The session will also feature videos, case studies and teacher voices from Learn to Play and Sabre Education on what play-integrated pedagogy looks like in practice.
