Learning series on learning differences: Understanding Behaviour and Trauma-Informed Practice

Please join us for the third session ‘Understanding behaviour and trauma-informed practice’ in our learning series on understanding and supporting children with learning differences.

Session 3 builds on the previous session’s focus on recognising learning differences, moving towards understanding what may sit behind a learner’s behaviour and how we can respond in ways that support learning, emotional wellbeing and inclusion.

The objective of this session is to help participants:

  • Understand behaviour as communication and as a possible signal of unmet learning or emotional needs.
  • Distinguish behaviour that may be linked to learning differences from behaviour influenced by trauma or the learner’s environment.
  • Identify environmental and instructional changes that can reduce challenging behaviour.
  • Understand what it means to be trauma-informed and trauma-sensitive in everyday practice.
