Dignitas empowers educators by developing leaders who will transform opportunities for the next generation. In 2018, they are working with 30 schools and 140 school leaders. Dignitas operates in informal settlements across Nairobi, rural communities and across Kenya’s borders in South Sudan. They partner with schools for a one to two year period, providing an intensive 3-week Leadership Training Institute, ongoing coaching, tailored professional development workshops and infrastructure support.
In this webinar, Deborah and her team will highlight their reflective practice and professional learning communities model.
This webinar will allow plenty of time for questions about the model, and the successes and challenges Dignitas has faced in implementing it.
Deborah Kimathi has been with Dignitas since October 2017 and has been tasked with scaling the impact of Dignitas’ work with teachers and school leaders. Deborah has almost 16 years’ experience working in education and child protection in East Africa. Deborah feels privileged to be able to lead the Dignitas team towards their vision of a world where schools are a vibrant place for all children to develop the skills and strength of character to thrive and succeed.
Roselynn Awili is a seasoned instructional coach and an educational manager with more than six years of knowledge and practical experience. She has specifically worked in the areas of curriculum development, personnel recruitment, teacher training and facilitation.
Global Schools Forum organises regular webinars where we engage with interesting people from across the non-state education sector to share their knowledge and lessons learnt with the GSF community.
In this series, we invite our partners to lead webinars on school leadership – how to support it, how to develop it and how to ensure quality. What are the innovative models that people are using to ensure they are investing in their school leaders? How are they able to do this at scale? What are the challenges and successes? And are there opportunities to learn, share and collaborate?
If you have any ideas for future webinars, would like to host one, or would like to provide us with feedback, please contact Keya Lamba, GSF Knowledge Manager, firstname.lastname@example.org
